The Future Of Star Wars and Marvel

The
next few years are going to be pretty wild. Disney announced the future
projects for the Star Wars Universe.
An Untitled Star Wars Movie directed by Taika Waititi
is due for release in 2025. He was the director of Thor: Ragnarok (2017), the
episode “Redemption” in The Mandalorian (2019), and the future Thor: Love and
Thunder (2022). As an actor, you will recognize him as Korg in the MCU and the
IG-11 droid in The Mandalorian.
The Obi-Wan
Kenobi live-action series will be released on Disney+ sometime in the next
few years. Filming for the show will begin March 2021. Ewan McGregor will
return as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christiansen will return as Darth Vader. The show
will take place ten years after the ending of Revenge of the Sith (2005).
Ahsoka
will be another live-action television series for release on Disney+ in the
next upcoming years. Rosario Dawson will reprise her role of Ahsoka from The
Mandalorian in this series.
The
Rangers of the New Republic is a live-action series set in the
same timeline with The Mandalorian and will be released on Disney+ in the next
upcoming years.
Lando
is a live-action series and will be released on Disney+ in the next upcoming
years. Justin Simien, the creator of Dear White People (2014), will be writing
the screenplay for the series.
Star
Wars: Andor is a live-action series and will be
released on Disney+ in 2022. Diego Luna will be reprising the role of rebel spy
Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) in this 12 episode
series. The series will also star Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw,
Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma.
The
Acolyte is a mystery-thriller live-action series and will be
released on Disney+ in the next upcoming years. This series will take viewers
into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final
days of the High Republic era. The series will be set about 70 years before The
Phantom Menace (1999).
Star
Wars: The Bad Batch is an animated series that will be
released on Disney+ in 2021. It follows a group of elite and experimental
clones as they make their way through an ever-changing galaxy in the immediate
aftermath of the Clone War.
Star
Wars: Visions is an animated series that will be
released on Disney+ in 2021. It will be a series of animated short films
celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. The
anthology collection will bring 10 fantastic visions from several of the
leading Japanese anime studios, offering a fresh and diverse cultural
perspective to Star Wars.
Star
Wars: A Droid Story is an animated series that will be
released on Disney+ in the next upcoming years. As Lucasfilm continues to
develop new stories, the intersection of animation and visual effects offers
new opportunities to explore. Lucasfilm Animation will be teaming up with
Lucasfilm’s visual effects team, Industrial Light & Magic, to develop this
special Star Wars adventure. This epic journey will introduce us to a new hero,
guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Rogue
Squadron is a live-action movie that will be released on December
22, 2023. No plot is listed at this time.
Rian Johnson’s new Star Wars movie trilogy – Unknown release

WandaVision
is a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ in January 2021. This
show blends the style of classic sitcoms with the MCU in which Wanda Maximoff
and Vision -two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives-begin to
suspect that everything is not as it seems.
The
Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a live-action series
that will be released on Disney+ in March 2021. The series centers around
Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return as
Falcon and Winter Soldier and Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter.
Loki is
a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ in May 2021. To,
Hiddleston returns as Loki and he is joined by Owen Wilson, the voice of
Lightning McQueen. After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers:
Endgame (2019), Loki uses it to travel through time and alter human history and
ends up trapped in his own crime thriller.
What
If…?
is an animated series that will be released on Disney+ in mid-2021. The series
explores what would happen if major moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe
occurred differently.
Ms.
Marvel is a live-action series that will be released on
Disney+ at the end of 2021. The show is about a 16-year-old Muslim
Pakistani-American from Jersey City who writes fanfiction for superheroes,
particularly Captain Marvel, and gains shape-shifting powers. The show will tie
into the MCU.
Hawkeye is
a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ at the end of 2021. Jeremy
Renner returns as Hawkeye, the master archer, Avenger, and a former agent of
S.H.I.E.L.D. The series will explore Clint’s time as Ronin, as first shown in Avengers:
Endgame (2019).
Moon
Knight is a live-action series that will be released on
Disney+ in 2022. Marc Spector is a former CIA agent whose life is saved by the
Moon God Khonshu. Oscar Isaac, Poe from the Star Wars franchise, will be
playing Marc Spector.
She-Hulk is
a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ in 2022. She-Hulk
revolves around Bruce Banner's cousin, who gains superpowers after receiving a
blood transfusion from him. Tim Roth returns as Abomination and Mark Ruffalo
returns as The Hulk. Actress Tatiana Maslany will star as Jennifer Walters,
She-Hulk.
Secret
Invasion is a live-action series that will be released on
Disney+ in the next few years. Fury and Talos try to stop the Skrulls who have
infiltrated the highest spheres of the Marvel Universe. Both Samuel L. Jackson
and Ben Mendelsohn will return to reprise their roles.
Ironheart is
a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ in the next few years. Ironheart
will tell the story of an engineer who develops the most advanced suit of armor
since Iron Man himself and then becomes a superhero. Dominique Thorne (If Beale
Street Could Talk) will play the title role.
Armor
Wars
is a live-action series that will be released on Disney+ in the next few years.
Find out in this series what would happen if Tony Stark's tech fell into the
wrong hands. Don Cheadle, War Machine/James Rhodes, will star in the series.
I
Am Groot is a series of shorts featuring new and unusual
characters, anchored by Baby Groot himself. James Gunn will executive produce I
Am Groot. It is unclear if it will be live-action or animated.
The
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a movie that will be
released on Disney+ in 2022. It takes place after Avengers: Endgame but before Guardians
of the Galaxy Vol 3 (2023).
We
still have the future MCU movies to look forward to as well. They will be Phase
Four of the MCU.
Black
Widow will release in theaters on May 7, 2021. A film about
Natasha Romanoff in her quests between the films Civil War and Infinity War.
Shang-Chi
and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release in theaters
July 9, 2021. The movie, based on Marvel Comics, will focus on Shang-Chi; 'The
Master of Kung-Fu'.
Eternals will
release in theaters on November 5, 2021. The saga of the Eternals, a race of
immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations.
Spider-Man
3
will release in theaters on December 17, 2021. A continuation of Spider-Man: Far
From Home.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release in theaters March 25, 2022. Plot unknown. Sequel to the 2016 Marvel film 'Doctor Strange'.
Thor:
Love and Thunder will release in theaters on May 6, 2022. The
sequel to Thor: Ragnarok and the fourth movie in the Thor saga.
Black
Panther II will release in theaters on July 8, 2022. A sequel that
will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all the rich and
varied characters introduced in the 2018 film.
Captain
Marvel 2 will release in theaters on November 11, 2022. Plot
unknown. The sequel of the 2019 title 'Captain Marvel'.
Guardians
of the Galaxy Vol 3 will release in theaters in 2023. Plot
unknown. The third installment of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise.
Blade –
There is no release date at this time or a plot. Mahershala Ali, Cottonmouth
from the Luke Cage series, will be playing Blade, the half-human half-vampire vampire
hunter. Mahershala also voiced Uncle Aaron in the animated Spider-Man: Into the
Spider-Verse (2018) film that won Best Animated Feature of the year. This movie has been in the works since 2015 since it was announced that Blade was going to be introduced into the MCU.
Ant-Man
and the Wasp: Quantumania – Planned release date in 2022. This
third film with Ant-Man has no plot at this time.
The
Fantastic Four - There is no release date at this time
or a plot. One of Marvel's most iconic families makes it to the big screen and
joins the MCU.
Untitled Deadpool film - There is no release date at
this time or a plot, but the film is rumored to involve another popular group
in the X-Men mythos, X-Force, and will be tied into the MCU.
Untitled mutant-centered film - There is no release date at this time or a plot.
