The Ship Jack Sparrow Sinks

Image
The Jolly Mon, the little boat Jack Sparrow sinks in the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), was named after The Jolly Mon book, written by Jimmy Buffett and Savannah Jane Buffett, as stated by Terry Rossio, the film's writer. It was published in 1988 and is a children’s picture book of Jimmy Buffett’s experiences sailing with his daughters in the Caribbean. His book was named after his song “ Jolly Mon Sing ” from his 1985 album Last Mango in Paris . Terry Rossio, along with Ted Elliott, wrote the script for Pirates of the Caribbean: Tales of the Code - Wedlocked  (2011), which explained how Jolly Mon sinks in the opening of Curse of the Black Pearl . The ship was previously owned by Anamaria. Here you can listen to the Jimmy Buffett song "Jolly Mon Song." Here is the book read out loud.
